I am eager to enter the full-time Information Technology workforce. I have recently completed a Computer Systems Technology diploma program from NAIT where I maintained a 4.0 Grade Point Average. I believe the skills I have acquired, not only in school but during my spare time tinkering with hardware and software, would be useful. I am interested in any position that might be available as a stepping stone or otherwise.
I am knowledgeable of the System Development Life Cycle and the Unified Modelling language. I have exposure to the Java Enterprise Edition environment as well as PHP and .NET. As for databases, I have worked with MySQL, MS SQL and Oracle PL/SQL (and Forms.) I am operating system agnostic (Windows, Unix, etc.) However, I believe my Unix administration skills are top notch. By chance, I was introduced to Linux at a young age and have been using it in one form or another for over a decade.
I have solid logic skills and can solve problems creatively. My English skills are also highly proficient. I enjoy reading and stay on top of technology news. My ideal career path would let me work in a range of areas. I can see myself working in database/network administration, system's analysis, development or maybe something I have not even considered yet.
Despite the lack of full-time IT work experience I am confident in my ability to learn anything required of me. Before going back to school I spent a number of years dealing with an illness and I feel I developed determination and a capacity to fight through adversity. I now look forward to finding a good employment fit.
